What happened to you and your family is horrible, yet, does that makes the entire Catholic Church and its 2000+ years of History illegitimate? Of course not… that would be a ridiculous conclusion. What you felt was “betrayal”, but you associated it with the entire Church. This is the emotional part, the most dangerous part for a faithful.
Now bear with me: (bare? sorry, I’m french)
There is corruption indeed, and I am aware of it too.
I even know to what depth it goes, who are responsible, and why they are doing it.
Yet, do I believe the Catholic Church is false? Not one bit.
I see lots of priests losing sight on Catholic doctrines, embracing everything that goes against God, all of this in the name of “modernism”. Some are worst than others, and we’d expect the Vatican to act quickly against them. Sadly, as I mentioned someplace else, there are now political division among the Cardinals, and a Liberal lobby was formed. They permit horrible things, overlook issues, twist God’s rules to their own views, silence the conservative Cardinals who only wants to keep the Church intact or warn others, etc, etc.
Thankfully, this haven’t always been this way: It only exploded recently.
You should also be aware of the many prophecies left by Jesus/Mary/other saints about how things would play for the Church during the end of the apocalypse. Indeed, previous pope before Francis agreed that we were very near, based on the geopolitic and social state of the world.
Why is this important?
Because it explains to you why these injustices are happening, to you and others, at different levels.
Since we, as Catholics, were given all the tools and guidance to understand, it is only normal for us to keep a faithful eye on our true faith, and uphold it NO MATTER the crosses we carry, or the heretics we face, even from inside.
This is why we’re called "the One True Church"
So heal your injuries, take the time it needs, but keep faith.
God never changed his mind, and those who hurt his Church AND his people (like you) will face justice.
If not here, it’ll be up there.
