Does anyone know anything about this religion--"Full Gospel Baptist Ministry"???

I met someone recently and naturally I was discussing my Catholic Faith with them and I even asked them to attend Mass with me and they got all defensive and started spouting out all these Anti-Catholic statements…you know, the ones we always hear about praying to statues and worshiping Mary…etc. Anyway, I countered all of those things, but I couldn’t dissect their religion because I know absolutely nothing about it. Does anyone have any 1st hand knowledge or second hand knowledge about these people and their beliefs…I already read the website, so I am looking for personal knowledge or word of mouth, etc…All I know is that this person told me that the whole congregation speaks in tongues every Sunday and they have healings, and Communion once a month…and the way they described it, it sounds like they are Fundamentalist who are way more strict than Southern Baptist and I know first hand how they can be, considering I am a convert from that herectical religion. Please help me.

Generally speaking, any organizational title that includes the phrase “full gospel” indicates that the organization accepts some or all of the traditionally pentecostal doctrines. I would guess that this organization is a locally based fundamentalist/pentecostal group whose theology tends toward Baptist doctrine (as opposed to Methodist, Presbyterian, etc.). I would also guess that the smaller and newer the group, the more hostile they would be towards Catholic doctrines.

They are fundamentalist, independent Baptist people who believe in the “charismatic gifts” that Pentecostal churches believe in. They are very strict as a general rule - much more so than the rather liberal Southern Baptist churches. I avoid these people and so should you.

Depending on the local congregation, beyond the gifts of speaking in tongues and prophesying, some handle snakes, drink poison, etc. and do so based on the last verses in the book of Mark (which verses are not in all the ancient manuscripts). That’s why I admonish you to avoid these people and pray for peaceful interaction with them before you go any further.

Thank you all for your responses…I am at a loss for words for these people…I am going to have to seriously read my apologetics book to deal with these heretics. They love bashing Catholics.
