Does my husband's previous civil marriage need to be annulled?

I am catholic and finding my way back to the church. My husband is non-catholic. We have discussed having our marriage recognized by the church. We both have previous civil marriages that ended in divorce. I was catholic at the time of my previous civil marriage to a non-catholic. Does my husband have to participate in the annulment process even though he is non-catholic and has no plans to convert?
