E. Michael Jones --- "Libido Dominandi"

Hello all,

I am wondering what others here know about the author E. Michael Jones. Our pastor is fond of him and gets his newsletter “Culture Wars”. He recommended Jones’ book “Libido Dominandi” and I bought it based on his recommendation, but after reading it only a short while I am beginning to wonder about this guy. It seems to have a lot of “conspiracy” type elements, which I tend to be very skeptical about, and there is a tendency to see Jews everywhere behind all these conspiracies. Some aspects are good, and you have to love the pithiness of the sentence, “A man has as many masters as he has vices”, but I am wondering about this guy’s perspective. I should also note that my pastor tends to conspiracy theories, especially those involving Jews, and so I’m wondering if this author might be the source for this.

Any thoughts?

God bless!

I’m not familiar with E. Michael Jones, but a Google search shows he did a radio interview with Peter Shaenk, whose website describes his show as “The prominent site for the fight against the Jewish New World Order.”

The Southern Poverty Law Center, writing in a 2006 article took exception to Jones, saying:

In 1996, Jones changed the name of his magazine to Culture Wars, and he has increasingly focused on the alleged evils of the Jews as he adds to his “continuing series on the Jews.” The magazine’s cover stories over the last year or so are instructive: “Judaizing: Then and Now,” “John Huss and the Jews,” “The Converso Problem: Then and Now,” “The Judaism of Hitler,” “Shylock Comes to Notre Dame” and so on. Jones runs through all the usual anti-Semitic canards – the ideas that “Jewish media elites” run the country, that Jews are “major players” in pornography, and that Jews are behind Masonry and the French Revolution – but that’s only the start. He also accuses Jews of poisoning society with thinkers such as Karl Marx (a devotee of Satan, says Jones) and Sigmund Freud (who set off an epidemic of sexual sin, he says). And he describes the World War II Nazi genocide of the Jews as “a reaction to Jewish Messianism (in the form of Bolshevism).” Last April, in an article raging about a new president of Notre Dame University, Jones charged that anyone who went to a mainstream university would emerge “with a Jewish world view … and maybe a Jewish spouse.”

I think I would stay away from E. Micheal Jones and I think I would find a new pastor.

The Southern Poverty Law Center is no friend of the Catholic Church.

E. Michael Jones wrote an article about his tussle with them.

That said, E. Michael Jones brand of traditional Catholicism includes all the past Popes encyclicals and bulls and words of the saints regarding the Jews and Judaism, giving them his full, and enthusiastic support…

Something which Catholic Answers certainly wouldn’t do, and sufficient quoting of would probably get this thread shut down for. Not only because of their disagreement (which I feel certain is quite firm) but because of the potential trouble they could get in from organizations like… the SPLC, ADL, etc. Might well shut down CA quite quick.

Since E. Michael Jones is willing to take both that very traditional Catholic tack, and theorize and write about groups of Jews who are anti-Catholic and conspiratorial and even actually historically might’ve been so, he isn’t going to be popular anywhere.

I don’t know how far he goes, frankly, but he is openly anti-Judaism as a religion, whether that travels over into anti-Jews as people ‘hatred’ which is what is -always- said of such a thing whether it is or not or is as he says simply ‘anti-Judaism’ I don’t know. He says he is not anti-semitic.

But simply to be sufficiently anti- any religion is enough not to be tolerated generally these days (except Catholicism), nevermind Judaism.
