Eternal and Temporal Punishment

If I’ve put this in the wrong forum I sincerely apologize. I was wondering, what is the difference between Eternal Punishment and Temporal Punishment in relation to the Sacrifice of Christ and the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession)? And could someone give me a link to either a site that explains this or a Church document that explains this?
Please and thank you.

Eternal Punishment = HELL

You earn that if you die while in unrepented serious sin. During human life, Repentance and Confession remove this punishment.

Temporal Punishment = Purgatory

This results from minor or venial sins, as well as prior serious sins. Penance and Indulgences can remit it.

You need Confession, penance, and Indulgences because sin in one’s life acts to separate one from the life of Christ. And even if all our sins are forgiven, we will need to do Purgatory, if any attachment to sin remains in our life.
