Evening Mass

Hello all,

My parish holds a Sunday mass on Saturday night at 5pm. There is then also a mass on Sunday at 6pm. Since this more than a 24 hour time frame… how can they all count as “Sunday”?

Just curious.

The Church gives you the widest latitude possible in fulfilling your Sunday obligation. You can go anytime from Saturday evening through midnight on Sunday. And some places – especially college campuses – have Masses late on Sunday night.

Sunday, being the Lord's Day, is an extended liturgical day. Only Sundays and holy day days have this privilege.
