*TALLAHASSEE -- The Florida Department of Law Enforcement today arrested former Republican Party of Florida Chairman Jim Greer on six felony charges involving a "scheme to defraud" the state GOP of more than $100,000.
After Greer was tossed out of his job in January, a party audit revealed a secret contract Greer and his top aide set up with a consulting firm that raked off 10 percent of major donations to the party.
Greer, 47, was booked at the Seminole County jail without bail after being arrested at his Oviedo home shortly after 9 a.m.
FDLE Commissioner Gerald Bailey and William Shepherd, the statewide prosecutor, said Greer was indicted on charges of running an "organized scheme to defraud" the party, four counts of grand theft and one count of money laundering. At a news conference in Orlando, Shepherd said Greer set up the secret contract with Victory Strategies LLC, a company he formed with Delmar Johnson, the former executive director of the party.
Johnson was a "cooperating witness" in the statewide grand jury probe, and was not charged in the case. Officials said they don't anticipate any more arrests
