Favorite Hymns?

Curious as to what your favorite hymns are? This is an older thread thought I’d open it back up though.

Breathe on Me, Breath of God
Hail Redeemer, King Divine

Let All the World in Every Corner Sing
Long Live the Pope

Holy, Holy, Holy!

Went to church twice on Trinity Sunday to hear it twice. Actually, I went three times, but there’s no singing of hymns in the hospital chapel…
Something wonderful happens every time I hear it.

Love, love, love Mahalia Jackson’s passionate version

I’ve always loved “Holy God, We Praise Thy Name.” On Sunday, whenever I have EWTN on at 6pm., they have Benediction that airs at that time. And at the end, The Poor Clares of Perpetual Adoration sing this hymn…and they sing it most beautifully! And I always stop what I’m doing and listen.

Peace, Mark

Ave Maria and In the Garden tend to bring tears to my eyes.

I am equally moved by Josh Groban’s version of Ave Maria as an early Stevie Wonder’s version.

I hear you! I especially love how Barbara Bonney sings it!

Peace, Mark***

I have a lot that I like but my favorite has to be Gift of Finest Wheat

‘Be Thou My Vision’ - particulary when sung by the Irish Tenors.

Blest are You Lord God
Shout to the Lord
Thy Word
Christ be our light
One Bread One body
Yahweh is the God of my Salvation

To name a few

Pange Lingua Glorios

salve Regina

I Am the Bread of Life. It almost makes me cry.

Me, too! Wow, powerful stuff.

Lift High the Cross! Everytime it is the closing hymn at Mass, I feel like enlisting in the Crusades.

It is a seriously great hymn.
