The federal government is now $13 trillion in the red, the Treasury Department reported Wednesday, marking the first time the government has sunk that far into debt and putting a sharp point on the spending debate on Capitol Hill.
It boggles my mind that the US continues to maintain a AAA credit rating with this.
... and growing, at the rate of 5 billion (with a B) per day. Every day. To level off just the increase in the debt to zero, every man, woman and child in America needs to put between $15 and $20 in the hat, every day. That's only about $500 per month, a payment on a really nice BMW. Think about it: everyone needs to be paying for the equivalent of a BMW just to keep the debt from increasing. To say nothing of actually paying it down. Courtesy of our government officials.
And they say Tea Party people are the irresponsible ones.
