Films: Everybody's Fine vs. Stanno Tutti Bene

Around 15-20 years ago Giuseppe Tornatore released a film called “Stanno Tutti Bene” about a Sicilian Patriarch who goes to visit his children who have moved to various parts of Italy.

It starred Marcello Mastroianni.

I loved it, Mastroianni was incredible as an older Sicilian man, every part of his acting was superb, even the Sicilian accent.

It’s been remade, taking place in the US, starring Robert DeNiro as the father.

I didn’t like it. I kept being distracted by DeNiro, I didn’t see him as the father, more as DeNiro pretending to be the Dad.

Has anyone seen both films? Does anyone have a preference?

No one? :)
