O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fountain of Mercy for us, I trust in You!

Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, Amen.

Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your Dearly Beloved Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.

For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world. x10

Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.

Sudden changes of mind: our report from two weeks ago, for the session on 9/13. (I hope to post last week’s stories tomorrow, D.V.) So, thank you again for your prayers for the Boise Catholic street evangelization effort.

  • A family of three stopped. Each accepted a Rosary. The father also accepted a copy of the Rosary prayers in Spanish.

  • “Walt” talked about the influx of homeless from troubled cities on the West Coast, who brought their heavy drug use with them, triggering police raids of Boise’s homeless shelters. Meanwhile, Walt’s companion cheerfully claimed to serve the enemy of all that is good, and yet bemoaned the lack of self-discipline and virtue in society. May God bless him and free him.

  • Several families stopped to let a child or two select a Rosary.

  • One pre-teen girl requested a gray Rosary. I set her up with a silver (duct-tape colored) one, though that didn’t seem to be the color of gray she was hoping for. We were out of the ones with the clear, smoky gray beads.

  • A woman and companion stopped for a Rosary. After accepting one, its booklet, and a brief explanation of the devotion, the woman wished us “a nice Sabbath”.

  • A 20-something man on a scooter shook his head in response to our offer of a free Rosary. He zoomed past, then changed his mind as he crossed the square, and circled back. He was a non-Catholic Christian (we think) and listened to the whole explanation/encouragement on praying the Rosary.

  • A college-aged group walked by, declining our offer. Then one of the women said she’d take one, and came for a Rosary. She was Catholic. May her Faith stand out in other ways with her friends.

  • A 20-something non-Catholic Christian man took a Rosary and seemed very interested in learning how to pray it. As we explained the devotion, another young man stopped without being asked. The second man was Catholic, but rarely attended Mass because he was “too busy”. He took a Rosary and agreed that the Eucharist should be worth his time.

  • A woman (who was with a larger group) stopped to ask us what “church” we belonged to (she meant “parish”). She declined a Rosary, saying she had one but rarely attended Mass. When offered a map she declined, saying that when she went she attended her mother’s parish. E. Lucy encouraged her to go to Mass on a regular basis. Another member of the group joined her, but also declined a Rosary.

  • A mother with two little girls declined our offer, but the kids wanted a Rosary so she let them choose one. Later, after their lunch, they passed by again, the youngest girl showing us her Rosary and smiling.

  • Altogether, the two evangelists gave away 20-25 Rosaries and its pamphlet.

Again, thank you for your prayers. Our ailing team member is well again and plans to join us tomorrow. Please pray that much good fruit for God’s Kingdom comes of our efforts?

In turn, may God protect and bless you and all those you love!

Go with the strength you have“ (Judg 6:14).

P.S. Thank you, @Katie777 and @Katherine438 for your prayers, and for keeping this thread alive!

Significant encounters awaited our lone evangelist last week. So thank you again for your ongoing prayers for the Boise Catholic street evangelization effort.

Here is our evangelist’s report:

  • With a couple Rosaries hanging from each finger of my left hand and pamphlets in my right, I gave away 6 Rosaries: three to people who were raised Catholic, and three to non-Catholic Christians who were curious. One went to a young couple who were very interested in how the Mysteries were prayed. The bulk of my time, though, was spent in conversation with the following two people.

  • “Manny” had stopped at the table a year or so ago, and even showed up at Mass once afterwards. This time, he stopped to talk. You may recall that Manny had been raised Catholic in Germany, and that a great number of his family members are enslaved to the enemy of all humankind. He emigrated to America more than twenty years ago to get away from that influence, with which he was becoming increasingly enthralled. He still struggles, still believes himself possessed, but has given up on prayer and the Church. Instead, he relies on himself and his own strength, and claims that it is working. I pointed out, over and over, that the one he is fascinated with is the father of lies, and that Manny’s lack of confidence in prayer and the Church is the result of his believing some of those lies. This made him angry and he stormed away. Ten minutes later, though, he came back. But, the more I pointed out that obedience, humility, and the Church were what he needed, and that the one he served was lying to him, the more angry Manny became. He left, saying he had “given up on the Church”. Please pray for Manny’s soul!

  • A young woman named “Crystal” stopped. Her parents had no faith but had sent her to Catholic schools for the education, and in the hope that she wouldn’t get in trouble. In college, Crystal gave up what faith she had. Then, in her late 20s, she felt she had an encounter with Christ and became a non-Catholic Christian. She shared a couple of her objections to the Catholic Church. We discussed them at length but without resolution, and parted amicably. Pray that her heart softens toward the Church.

Please pray for us again today? We expect our team to be back to full strength this week, God willing! So, please ask God to prepare people’s heart to perceive and accept their need for Our Savior Jesus Christ and His Holy Catholic Church, and that much good fruit for His Kingdom comes of today’s efforts.

Building trust and establishing relationships takes time, but worth every minute. So thank you again for your prayers and other support for this apostolate. In turn, may God protect and greatly bless you and all those you love!

Plenty of work in the Vineyard! So thank you again for your prayers for the Boise Catholic street evangelization effort!

  • A non-Catholic Christian couple, perhaps in their early 30s, passed us by. But the second time they came through the square, they stopped for a free Rosary. The woman chose one, and we began explaining the devotion. Then the man said, “Yes, I’ve become very curious about Catholicism.” That alerted e. Chuck, and he briefly shared with our visitor what brought him to conversion a few years ago. He lamented that we normally had a Catechism to give out but didn’t have room on our table anymore. E. Lucy, however, quickly produced our last copy out of our bag and gave it to him. By the time they left, they each had a Rosary, as well as a copy to share of the Catechism, and 3 basic FAQ pamphlets. Please pray for them?

  • Three men stopped, who might have lifestyle issues that make it difficult to embrace Catholicism. Two men stood back, while the third responded to our offer of a free Rosary. As we explained the merits of praying the Rosary, he asked if he could have the pamphlet called, “What About Mary?” The other two men declined a Rosary.

  • A family group walked by and a boy (?), almost a teen, edged toward the table. But the parents declined, so the whole group walked on. A few seconds later, the boy came running back, while the family waited at a distance. When e. Lucy asked if his family was Christian, he said no. So, besides a rapid-fire introduction to the Rosary devotion, she had e. Chuck grab a copy of the “Good News”/kerygma pamphlet to give him.

  • A woman, displaying pictures of bat-winged creatures on her tattoos and clothes, left a group of two other people, one of them wearing a pointy, wide-brimmed hat. The woman wanted a free Rosary. E. Lucy got one out for her, and asked if she knew anything about Christianity. When she said no, e. Chuck got a “Good News”/kerygma pamphlet out for her, too. Neither of her companions came over. Please pray for them all? This stuff is hard to break away from. May Our Lady help them!

  • A man named “Denver” reminded us that he had stopped for a Rosary a couple years ago, and had played us a song. He was grateful for the Rosary, said it was meaningful, and had given it to his grandmother. He was now back in town to help his parents. He chose another Rosary and played us another song, this time on his harmonica.

  • Altogether, the two evangelists gave away 15-20 Rosaries, 1 copy of the Catechism, 2 copies of the kerygma, 2 copies of “What About Mary?”, and 1 copy each of “Marian Doctrines” and “Common Objections”.

Please pray for us again today? Ask God to send people to us prepared to perceive their need for Jesus Christ and His Holy Catholic Church, and that much good fruit for His Kingdom comes of today’s efforts.

Our work continues, so thank you again for your prayers and other support for this apostolate! In turn, may God protect and greatly bless you and all those you love!

P.S. Thank you again for your prayers, and your words of encouragement: @Katie777, @CajunJoy65, @Katherine438, Barb, and Randy!

God’s love is unlimited. So thank you again for your prayers for the Boise Catholic street evangelization effort.

  • A group of about 8 people passed by. A man said a polite no thank you to the offer of a free Rosary, but a woman actually hissed at e. Chuck. Later, another man went by, making the yipping noises of a small dog. Lord, have mercy, and please let them remember the dignity of their humanity!

  • A perhaps-20-year-old man went by. When we offered him a free Rosary, he turned to show us the large picture of his enemy, and the enemy of all humankind, decorating the back of his shirt. Lord, please free him and bring him home to Your Catholic Church!

  • Two Catholic women stopped. Besides Rosaries, they also asked for a couple of our pamphlets and prayer cards. Then one said to the other, “I guess we should go to Mass again.” They had not been to Mass since the lockdown started, last March. (In this diocese, the Sunday-Mass obligation is currently waived for vulnerable populations, including those over 60.) One woman was very concerned about safety. E. Lucy was familiar with the woman’s parish, and reassured the woman of the safety measures in place. We both encouraged the women to check the parish’s website for senior-only Masses, but to get reconnected with the Sacraments!

  • A couple of large Catholic family groups stopped, at separate times. We fixed each one up with a Rosary and encouraged them to pray it together, every day. E. Lucy especially encouraged one dad to pray the Rosary for protection for his family. One woman wanted a second Rosary for her sister-in-law. We let her have one, but encouraged her to get her sister-in-law to pray it together with her. “Of course”, she said.

  • Another Catholic family stopped and the teenage boy hung back and and finally choose a Rosary at his parents urging. The boy’s mother told him it was for praying. We encouraged them to pray it together, so everyone knew how to use the Rosary.

  • A group of teens on bikes stopped, some were disappointed when they learned the Rosary was for prayer and not jewelry, and a couple of them listened politely to our explanation and thanked us. One decided not to take a Rosary, saying he didn’t want to waste our Rosaries because he would not pray it.

  • A couple stopped, he said he was a non-Catholic Christian, but they were eager to receive the Rosaries and hear the benefits of praying them. Another couple stopped, nominally Christian, but also eager to get closer to Christ through the Rosary.

  • Altogether, we gave away 25-30 Rosaries and its booklet, as well as a copy each of “Praying to the Saints” and “The Problem of Evil”, and 2 “Divine Mercy” and “Jesus Knocking” prayer cards.

Please pray for us again today? Ask that God prepares people’s hearts to perceive their need for Jesus Christ and His Holy Catholic Church, and that much good fruit for His Kingdom comes of today’s effort.

Trying to reach all for Jesus Christ, we thank you again for your prayers and other support for this apostolate. In turn, may God protect and greatly bless you and all those you love!

Go with the strength you have“ (Judg 6:14).
