for my father

#1

My father is an alcoholic, was abused as a kid, and spent last weekend in jail for domestic assault. For part of that time he was in the medical care unit, and allowed to read. At random, he grabbed The Catholic Controversies by St. Francis de Sales and read most of it. He told me that it was the first time he's ever understood the Church, and desires go deeper; so for this Lenten season, I've decided that I will help him, even while my mother has decided to get a divorce (not out of bitterness). I should also mention that we think he has Borderline Personality Disorder, which makes this whole situation harder for him.

I ask for all of your prayers, mostly for my father rather than me.

Thanks

Lord, please finish the good work you have already begun in brgregmack's father. Convert his heart and help him to follow in the footsteps of your Son. Please grant him and his family strength, peace, deep faith, surrender to your holy will and abandonment to your divine providence. Thank you, Lord, for hearing my prayer.

Lord Jesus, You have said, "Learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart." With confidence in Your loving heart which offers rest to weary souls, we come to You in this time of special need. In Your unfailing love, read the prayer that is written on our hearts, and grant the grace that we ask of You, in accordance with Your holy will. In Your name we pray. Amen.

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, and sought thy intercession, was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother, to thee I come, before thee I stand sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate! Despise not my petitions, but, in thy mercy, hear and answer me. Amen.

I will remember your father, but also you and your mother, in my daily prayers. May God bless you all

Loving God, how many and varied are the ways that You draw souls to yourself and deepen their understanding and relationship with You.
Thank You for this great grace You have given brgregmack's father.
Please continue this blessing in his soul and life.

St Francis de Sales please intercede for the physical and spiritual welfare of each member of brgregmack's family

Praying for your father and family.

O dear Jesus, I humbly implore You to grant Your special graces to this family.
May their home be the shrine of peace, purity, love, labor and faith.
I beg You, dear Jesus, to protect and bless all of them,
absent and present, living and dead.
O Mary, loving Mother of Jesus, and our Mother,
pray to Jesus for this family, for all the families of the world,
to guard the cradle of the newborn,
the schools of the young and their vocations.
Blessed Saint Joseph, holy guardian of Jesus and Mary,
assist them by your prayers in all the necessities of life.
Ask of Jesus that special grace which He granted to you,
to watch over their home at the pillow of the sick and the dying,
so that with Mary and with you, heaven may find their family
unbroken in the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
Amen.

In the name of the Father,
And of the Son,
And of the Holy Spirit
Amen.

I actually haven’t been around him for a little over a week, but the last time I was with him, he seemed to be doing better. However, my mother has decided to get a divorce, so I’m not sure how he’s taking that.

I have given him, “Jesus Teach Us To Pray” by Fr. Jerome Bertram. Also, my mother and I will be moving to a new apartment this Friday, so I’m not sure when I could or should go over this week. He hasn’t contacted me, and it might be because he’s afraid of breaking the no contact order with my mom.

Update:

It's hard for me to tell what's going on with him. Some of the things he's saying to me now are things he's said in the past. He says that he has a strong faith and good relationship with God, but it seems to me like he says it only to gain my sympathy, for I know that it's nearly impossible to have a good relationship with Him without prayer and the sacraments.

There are times when he seems genuine and times when I feel like he's just acting. I just don't know.:(

Praying for your family. How is your father?

Our Father,
who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;

and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning,
is now, and ever shall be, world without end.

I haven't spoken to him in a week, and my mom can't due to a no contact order, but she and I have heard from one of his friends that he's not doing very well.

So thanks for all the prayers and keep sending them up.
