for travel...

It is with increasing desperation, that I hope to attend a certain event in a foreign country. I have been hoping for this for months and I was really looking forward to it, but now it looks like circumstances may thwart me-mainly lack of funding. The effect of this would be absolutely devastating and would badly upset me, and leave me to feel like I’ve nothing to look forward to. So please…PLEASE…pray that something will turn up, that I will somehow get the money, that a certain person will have a change of heart, and that I will get to go to this particular event, which would mean a lot to me and help me feel a whole lot better. Also, I have just got over several months of being depressed, and if I cannot go to this event, my depression is in danger of returning…so please pray that I do NOT get depressed again, that I will remain cheerful, secure and and contented, and most especially, that I can leave the country to go to this event. Thank you!

I hope you are able to go.

May the Lord grant you calm and peace in good circumstances and bad,
in gaining what you desire,
and in sacrificing your wishes;
in realities that can change
and in those which cannot for practical reasons;
for life is full of such challenges for each of us,
allowed by God in hope that we will grow in wisdom, self-control and self-management,
as we live what we are on earth to live,
the gospel,
the commands to love God above all
and others as ourselves in charity and faith.

From today’s Liturgy of the Hours:

Short Responsory

I will call upon the Lord, the Most High, because of his kindness to me.
– I will call upon the Lord, the Most High, because of his kindness to me.
He will send help from heaven and set me free.
– I will call upon the Lord, the Most High, because of his kindness to me.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
– I will call upon the Lord, the Most High, because of his kindness to me.

Prayers and Intercessions

God takes care of all whom he has created and redeemed through his Son. We put our trust in him and renew our prayer:
– Lord, you have worked wonders among us.

Lord of compassion, make our hearts pure and guide our steps,
so that we remember what is true, and just, and worthy of love.
– Lord, you have worked wonders among us.

For your name’s sake, O God, do not abandon us for ever:
do not let your covenant fade away.
– Lord, you have worked wonders among us.

Receive our contrite and humble hearts:
for those who put their trust in you will never be disappointed.
– Lord, you have worked wonders among us.

You called us to be prophets in Christ:
may we always proclaim your power.
– Lord, you have worked wonders among us.

Our Father, who art in Heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

Lord, be generous with your grace to those who pray to you:
by your power, may they follow your commandments closely,
receive consolation in this present life,
and embrace the joys that are to come.

Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God for ever and ever.
Amen.

May the Lord bless us and keep us from all harm; and may he lead us to eternal life.

Amen to this most beautiful prayer.

LirMengRen, I hope you are able to go, too! but if you can’t go, know that God has a plan for you and for some good reason doesn’t want you there in the other country at this event but exactly where you are. Place your confidence in what God is doing in you and in your life and be completely surrendered to whatever he sends your way. This surrender or abandonment to His will will help keep depression at a far distance. Try and foster a spirit of abandonment to God’s will and you will set yourself free from a lot of depression. I still pray you are able to go to the event, but if you can’t go, I pray you can accept this with gratitude for the other good things God has granted you. Peace!

Praying.

Praying that you are able to attend the event …
