Forgiveness vs. Absolving?

What’s the difference between getting Forgiveness for Sins and Absolving Sins?

I mean during Mass, we do the Penitential Act, then the Priest forgives us, and then during Confession we do the Act of Contrition and our sins are Absolved.

I’m trying to understand what the differences are.

The Penitential Act forgives our veinal sins. At Confession, we are absolved of both our veinal and mortal sins.

Hope this helps a little

God Bless
