Friday penance on feast days?

#1

With Christmas occuring next Friday and the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God occurring the following Friday, I was wondering if abstinence from meat or other forms of penance was required on those days? In short, must we perform acts of penance on feast days?

No. Fasting and abstinence should not be observed on solemnities. They are days for feasting!

Nope. Sundays and Solemnities are never days of abstinace, fasting, or other penance.

But this is for solemnities only. Ho-hum feasts amd memorials do not qualify.:dts:
