I seldom post but always read. God be with you all. I stumbled across this article and it hit a nerve. I know being gay itself is not sinful,
>>Actually, it is.
but wasn’t most of our previous scandals involving young men and gay priests?
>>Yes and No. Media is trying to make it sound like there is a pedophile epidemic in the priesthood, which is not the case. There are cases of sexual abuse, and some including younger men, but still less than other institutions, i.e. education.
How or could we dismiss our knowingly gay priests?
>>The Church has not dismissed that there are some priests who have acted in a homosexual nature and are actively addressing, and in many cases, already addressed the issue.
This gay issue is more than trying to be celibate from the opposite sex it’s deeper and seems more difficult to abstain. These gay priests and any others with even a hint of homosexual tendencies will cost the Church in the years to come.
>>Celibacy is normal behavior for someone who has discerned properly and in love with Christ (the Church) as the bridegroom. We are all human and sin, but it doesn’t make it right. The Church is negatively impacted by the scandals, but is stronger than ever.
>>I really appreciate your concerns and would question your source - looks like an attempt to smear the Church if you ask me. There are misguided people in this world are looking to tear down the Church created by the God who created our universe. We must all pray for them and help these people. At the same time, we need to help the Church clean out it’s dirty, prosecute where appropriate, and move on with spreading Gods word as required.
Not sure how credible this new link is, but I pray it is less than accurate.
