Have you family expressed interest in the faith, op? I know that if my friend gave me a book on the faith, I would not really read it, and I’m not that secular, lol.
I don’t know if that’s an appropriate Christmas present, I would give it to her for reading, but it wouldn’t be a gift for Christmas.
If your mom is liberal, a book that focuses on that would be more interesting to her (eg how (insert typical liberal view, like birth control) isn’t liberating). I know I wouldn’t care about Catholicism if my fundamental views weren’t challenged in the first place. She probably needs to be open to Christianity first before she would care about Mary
