Gospel for 6th Sunday of Easter

#1

I’m not sure if this is the right place, or if this has been done before (or if there is an interest in it) but I want to take some time each week to meditate/reflect on the gospel reading for the up coming Sunday, and also look at some teaching/discussion points that I could use with my children.

So this weeks reading is John 14.23-29.

John 14: 23 - 29
23 Jesus answered him, "If a man loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.
24 He who does not love me does not keep my words; and the word which you hear is not mine but the Father’s who sent me.
25 "These things I have spoken to you, while I am still with you.
26 But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.
27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
28 You heard me say to you, `I go away, and I will come to you.’ If you loved me, you would have rejoiced, because I go to the Father; for the Father is greater than I.
29 And now I have told you before it takes place, so that when it does take place, you may believe.

So for me, it talks about keeping Gods word out of love rather than fear. To avoid sin out of love for and the desire for a relationship with Him, rather than fear of being punished.
That I should trust that the Holy Spirit will guide me in understanding of what His will is for me. That I should ask the Holy Spirit for assistance in deepening my understanding.
I need to remember Gods peace. That I need not be afraid, that God is with me, no matter what. And I don’t rely on physical sensations to know that.even if I don’t ‘feel it’ I have faith, and that gives me peace.

What are your thoughts?

You posted right matter at right matter and time.
The gospel insist love to God and one another
loving God means abiding his laws and doctrines
through love is when we unite with the holy trinity
on fulfilling all these we are going to attain what god promised us (the land full of milk and honey).****
