Gov. Bryant signs 20-week abortion ban

#1

Gov. Phil Bryant has signed a bill that bans on abortions at 20 weeks or more gestation, without exception for rape or incest.

Proponents, including House Judiciary Chairman Andy Gipson, R-Braxton, author of the bill, said Mississippi is the last state in the Southeast that lacks a ban on abortions past 20 weeks.

The bill would allow exemptions in cases where the mother’s life is in danger or where it is determined the fetus has problems and no chance of survival.

That is a step in the right direction. I’m surprised a conservative state like Mississippi didn’t have this legislation before.
