Guardian angels

I have a non-Catholic friend who is writing a children’s novel about a guardian angel-in-training and I was wondering if you can give me any references so I can answer questions she has about the Catholic belief regarding guardian angels.

Thanks so much.

The first place to refer your friend for the Catholic understanding of angels generally and guardian angels specifically is the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Guardian angels are specifically mentioned in paragraph 336, but she should search the index for all of the references to angels and their place in Catholic belief.

For a Catholic treatment of guardian angels written for a popular audience, here’s a link to an interesting book on the topic (your friend may be able to obtain it through interlibrary loan for her research purposes):

Angels of God, Our Guardians Dear by Mary Drahos
