Have I committed the sin of detraction?

Recently I told a friend about how my teacher engaged in inappropriate relationships with students a couple of years ago. The teacher has changed since then, but I told my friend the story mainly so she’d understand why I still feel slightly uneasy about the teacher and how I felt very uncomfortable at the time. I suppose it was unnecessary for me to tell my friend, though, since she has never taken a class with that particular teacher. Did I commit the sin of detraction? If so, was it a mortal sin?

I would suggest you ask a priest about this since there are apparently many subtle aspects.

No, you haven’t. God Bless!
