Help please

Hi everyone. I am going on a camping trip this week to Canada. We leave on Saturday morning. I am very excited. However, yesterday I did not do something I am happy of. I am very disappointed because of what I did. I was on the computer just fooling around and I noticed a picture on television of a woman dressed immodestly... My teenage hormones and sex drive got the best of me. Even though I did not view porn of any type, I searched some women's names on google images just to see some attractive ones... One was naked... I knew right away I was at fault and I should not have been doing that. I feel like a gravely offended God and I am very sorry. My problem though is that I do not want my family to know this. I do not know what they would think. I have told them in the past I would like to go to confession and they have taken me when I know that I have grave sins on my heart, but I never told them about the grave sin part. I guess my problem is that since we are leaving Saturday morning, I will not be able to attend confession. We do go to mass at 5:30 in Canada, so could I possibly try to ask the priest before for a confession? This may not be an option though if we are running late. I was also reading on perfect contritions. It states in the Catechism if one is truly sorry for their sins and pledges to get to confession as soon as possible, they can receive communion. All I know is is that I am sorry for what happened. I want to take it back. Please help me

You do not have to wait until Saturday to go to Confession, you can always call the parish and make an appointment to see the priest.

But I cannot even drive, my parents are at work, and if I tell them, they will think I did something terrible! :( and they are very traditional. They do not even know what porn is! I am pretty sure they just think killing someone is an example of a mortal sin! They will think I killed someone!!! :(

But than again, I am not even sure if you would consider immodest women porn! Maybe I am guilty of lust! I don't know anymore :o

But it is not like I wanted to have sex with them. They just sort of got my juices flowing… But I got out when I realized I was heading into a danger zone :frowning:

Intent, Intent, Intent!

You saw an immodest women on TV, so your intent was to find attractive ladies on the internet and found a naked woman?

What was your intent after you saw that lady?

This may or may not be mortal, but certainly a near occasion of sin. Get to confession. And no, only those who are in a State of Sanctifying Grace can receive Holy Communion.

And I cannot drive either. When I tell my parents I want to go to confession, they always tell me its only for mortal sins, what mortal sin could I of have committed…and yet I don’t say.

So I feel your pain. You’re blessed however to have Catholic parents. Mine aren’t Catholic, and I hardly get to confession. It’s only been because of priest earlier at Mass that I had the chance to get to confession.

But I guess what I am saying is my parents work, I cannot get to confession. If I do not receive Communion on saturday, my family may look at me strangely… Ughhh unless I pretend like I am sick during mass, and then do not receive Communion. Then tell my parents I MUST go to confession the next Saturday… That might work. But I guess I feel blessed to have Catholic parents and that.i realize what mortal sins are. I have friends who watchnporn and mastrrbate and do many terrible things, but since they “do not know it is a sin,” they can do it. And people who are addicted to stuff like this are not sinning??? If they realize it is a sin, they just shouldn’t do it. Period. It is just like smoking. Stop! It is hard, but it is still bad! Porn and masturbation are still sins! Ughhhh I just don’t want my parents to know. I think I am blessed as well to have good parents, but your parents can drop you off. My parents aren’t like that, they might start throwing a fit and go crazy! :frowning: I am sorry for my sin amd I want to confess it, but at the same time, I do not want to be looked down upon… It is hard for catholic teenagers everywhere.

:banghead: why did this even have to happen??? Please I need some more advice :(

I mean I guess I could call the rectory tomorrow, and talk to my priest. It might be awkward since I’m a teen but I am sure he will understand… I could ask if I could have a confession after 830 mass on Friday… I might have to walk to my church though :frowning: I am not sure if my parents would let me though, and I am not sure what I would wear if I walk. I could also ask to sub for the altar server that day? I just want to be cleansed of my sins and receive Communion so I am not looked down upon.

Then eat something right before Mass. Perfect excuse to not receive communion. You broke the fast.

It is common to go to confession before one goes on vacation. Tell your parents you would like to go before you leave and then call and make an appointment with a priest.

#12

Can I ask a priest before or after mass to hear my confession? If I say it is urgent, would he not be mad at me?

Stop beating a dead horse on this site, or you just continuing this post to argue? You are being immature by making excuses for not going to Confession. You have already gotten some good advice here.
Are your parents so controlling, or are you so young that they know where you are every minute you are out of your house?
Look up the nearest Catholic Rectory in the phone book and walk to it- even if it is 5 miles away. You can offer the trek up to G*d as a pre-confession penance. Ask to see a priest; if one is not available, ask when he will be back and wait. You do not have to go to Confession only at your Parish. Any Catholic Church or Rectory will do.
As for worrying about what you are wearing, that is just an excuse for not going. Just wear what you normally wear every day-it doesn’t matter.
If you really live far away from a Catholic Rectory-like more than 5 miles, than wait until you attend Mass and go directly into the sacristy just before Mass, or if you are late, just go into the Sacristy immediately after Mass and see the priest. He will never deny you Confession.
As for your parents, I am not advocating your disobedience to them, but it is none of their business as to why and when you want to go to confession and you shouldn’t feel guilty for asking them to take you. If they ask you why, tell them you don’t want to discuss it with them and if they say they won’t take you to church for Confession, tell them you will walk. They won’t forbid you, but if they do, tell them they are committing a sin by interferring with your desire for Confession. That is not sassing them and I doubt they will punish you for it! Just stop making excuses and go to Confession. You will feel a million times better!

I think if you tell a priest you need confession before mass, he will understand. The internal upset you have right now is part of the learning process. I have been there, done that. Agonizing when you can get to confession is something that helps us to try to prevent the sin next time.

If you can not get to confession before mass, say an act of contrition, and obviously you are sorry from all you have written. You can recieve confession at the next possible time. Recieve our Lord in communion and thank him for his goodness!

Not all priests will hear your confession if you ask them to.

your priest will not be mad at you

I am not sure how Roman Catholic and Mass works so don't jump at me for not understanding but couldn't you receive the Eucharist this once on the promise you make with God that as soon as you can you will go to confession?

If I were you, I would ring the priest up and have a chat to him about it and he will guide you as to what you should do. Don't let it ruin your holiday.

Loyalty - how old are you ?

I get the impression - I may be wrong that you are a young teen

#18

Since when? I have never heard of such an outragious thing! If I ever was denied Confession, I would immediately report the priest to his Pastor, and if it was the pastor, to the Bishop.
Refusing to hear Confession for a priest is tatamount to his refusing to administer the Last Rites to someone.
