Why remove them at all, anywhere?
Simply taking religious holidays off school calendars pretending
they do not exist is foolish.
Folks still celebrate these days, perhaps in a secular manner more than
religiously. There is nothing wrong with acknowledging these holidays
take place on a public school agenda.
To me removing these days from a school calendar is like saying
Christmas does not exist. It’s like Bah-humbug and Scrooge do all
they can to eliminate legitimate healthy customs.
What is so terrible about saying school is out on Christmas break?
Removing these holidays because another religion does not have an
equal number or any days off commemorating their beliefs is wrong.
This is not an equality issue, it is a historical phenomenon in the United
States…which started with religion.
Besides, Christmas is a federal holiday. Are government workers ready
to release one of their paid days off??? I don’t think so.
Why isn’t Yom Kipper a federal holiday?
