Holy day of obligation

My family is travelling this week. We live in a diocese where Thursday is a HDO. We are travelling from Wednesday to Sunday to a diocese where Thursday is not a HDO.

What is my obligation to go to mass Thursday?

This came up with me when I was traveling in another country on a day the US considers a Holy Day of Obligation, but other countries don’t. When traveling you are bound by the requirements as set by the diocese you are in at the time.

There are multiple reasons for this but the primary one being that if the bishop of the local diocese validly has moved the HDO (or it isn’t a HDO in that country) you will probably not find the Mass the pertains to the HDO in that diocese.

Of course just because the day wouldn’t be a HDO in that diocese that doesn’t stop you from going to Mass, you can still go.
