Indian doctors are studying an 83-year-old holy man who claims to have spent the last seven decades without food and water.

What do you think? One line that shot out at me was "He claims to have been blessed by a goddess when he was 8-years-old, which has enabled him to survive without sustenance." and "Jani says he meditates to get energy." Makes me a little worried about the origins. Any thoughts? Supernatural? Demonic? Or just a feat of the human body?

This is not unheard of for saints, I am thinking of St. Catherine of Sienna I was listening to a talk on her last night and how she survived only on the Eucharist. This man is not Catholic btw.

emphasis in "claims"
the Church discerns and requires proof of miracles. I don’t know what standards are applied by other religions or by doctors
