How can infant Baptism be valid?

When you are an adult going into the Church, you are put through certain programs to prepare you for Baptism, which is also true of every other sacrament in the Church. How can I respond when somebody argues that, since you are an infant, baptism doesn’t count since you couldn’t have accepted the love of Christ and couldn’t even have comprehended that you were becoming a member in the first place?
