How closely can we follow in Christ's footsteps?

#1

Dear Sir,
How closely can we follow in Christ’s footsteps? As He was fully human can we be as He and by following the Holy Spirit learn and obey. Christ suffered, as He followed the Holy Spirit and this suffering was a means to His education. Is this path possible?

Dear Edwin,

Jesus did not suffer to learn. He suffered to redeem us. Certainly, He was fully human, but He was also fully divine. We are called to follow Him, but we can never live the exact life He lived because we aren’t God.

He said that to be His follower one must take up his cross and follow Him. This will differ for each person because He determines what the best cross for each of us is. What is important is that we hold nothing back—just as He held nothing back. But in order to do this, we need divine help.
