Nuns do and did get pregnant in the past and probably now. I know my mother wasn't lying, to think they didn't is naive...but the majority of course were not fooling around and a smart superiour kept them always in groups.
The nun who counseled my neighbor growing up ended up leaving and the husband and her got married years later when the divorce went through...why would she want him, I don't know, but his wife had 4 children and I always prayed she kept her faith.
I never grew up past 10 seeing priests and nuns as "more than human", which I didn't like at first, loved the mystery and allusion, but later, it helped me more to understand how I couldn't put human beings in bubbles like that, we all bleed the same way, we all hurt, we all get lonely. Grace is wonderful, but most people need help at some poiint, being there for them, not covering it up, not ignoring it, is what is needed.
I was in a convent and none of this was true. We had monks across the street but we only saw them once a year and it was in church.
People love to make something that is pure and holy and devoted to God and make it sordid and ugly because they have nothing better to spend their time thinking about.
Possibly the babies were born to unwed mothers and being adopted by infertile couples. That used to happen, when a young woman would become pregnant, they were "sent away" to a shelter that was run by nuns. We have one here but the shame isn't as bad, and they work with a hospital. There was a LOT of "counseling" because it is very difficult to part with a baby.
I'm not saying you're lying, I just think you don't have all the facts.
