We have a close family member who is planning on moving in with his girlfriend. Not only do we know how the Church doesn’t approve of cohabitation prior to marriage, but we have six very impressionable children we are trying to instill Catholic teaching on. This family member is active in all of their lives and I’m worried what kind of example this sets for them. Not only that, I know statistically speaking, couples that live together prior to marriage have a much higher divorce rate so I feel as though he is setting himself up for disaster. Do you have any advice for how to handle this situation, and possibly talk him out of making a very poor decision?
Tell him what you stated quite clearly here–or show him this post. Your family is in our prayers.
