Certainly they are rightly hailed as martyrs, and their faith was a motivation behind their acceptance of their fate (and in St Max’s case of his offering his own life for that of another).
Nonetheless you can simply not compare their situation to that of the Jews. As I said, propaganda hate films and speeches were made labelling ALL Jews, with no exceptions and by name as a class, as subhuman, vermin, fit only for extermination in the way one exterminates rats or cockroaches.
The very word ‘Jew’ was turned into a curse word to be grafittoed across the walls of businesses - preferably after those businesses had been smashed up and their owners deported to the death camps. Hitler had the avowed aim of totally wiping the Jewish race/religion off the face of the planet.
Such treatment was not meted out to Catholics AS A CLASS, they were not targeted by name AS A CLASS, Catholic businesses and properties were not en masse smashed up, looted of their goods and defaced with antireligious/racist epithets, there is no Catholic Kristallnacht, no Catholic equivalent of the forced wearing of the Star of David, no Catholics being herded into Catholic ghettos and systematically removed from thence, comparable to the famous Jewish ghettoes of Warsaw and other cities.
