How Often Do You Go To Confession?

#1

I swear I seen a post asking this question but I can’t find it anywhere, So i’m thinking it was deleted or I seen it on a different forum so out of curiousity I thought I’d make one.

This is my first poll so I hope this works

And I just noticed this is obviously in the wrong part of the forum (I’m good for that believe me) It’s 3:30 In the morning and I think my brain shut down about 2 hours ago. Sorry Guys

I voted, monthly but that isn’t entirely true. My goal is once a month.

Usually about every two weeks… sometimes three weeks, sometimes once a month. My Parish only offers confession on Saturday from 1pm - 2pm so it’s not always easy to get there.

I just became an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion so I’m going to have to start making a habit of getting to confession more often. Before I was an Extraordinary Minister, I would just refrain from taking communion if I wasn’t in a state of grace, but that isn’t really an option now. Yesterday I just made sure I got to church about 10 minutes earlier and had a quick confession with the priest right there in the sacristy before mass.

I used to try and go once a month then found a great Confessor at another parish and have been (trying) for weekly. He suggests to come 2-3 times a week, which would be very hard for me. He has made the world of differnce in my life in the last 3 months since I had the grace to come accross him.

I love this Sacrament! :bowdown2: and my Confessor  !

#6

My target is every 2-3 weeks, which I usually make. Sometimes it goes as long as 1 month or so.

#7

Do most people go, even if their only sins are venial during the previous weeks? Or does this mean that mortal sins occur this often and this is how often penance is needed to be placed back in grace?
A touchy question, I know, but I thank you for your time in answering it, if you elect to do so.

#8

I am real proud of my priest. During Lent, he expanding the hours for Reconciliation to six hours a week on 5 different days!

#9

Me: Not often enough.

#10

I go to confession every 1-2 weeks. My parish has confession before Saturday night (Sunday Vigil) mass. Also, they say a decade of the rosary before that mass too. If I time it right, I get confession, community rosary and the mass in one afternoon

Not often enough

I go every week because I’m a big sinner! and I do not like sitting out Holy Communion at Mass. Doing penance and receiving Our Lord are most important to my healing.

Honestly, I think it varies by the person. Some people struggle with certain sins and as a result either skip receiving Jesus each week or they go to confession. Other folks just go to confession with only the venial sins to mention, because the grace helps keep them on the right path. I think the sacrament of confession is very helpful and I have direct experience of its spiritual healing powers. It can change your life!

Hey WanderAimlessly…Well, then go more often! :clapping: As the great box with rabbit ears has said, Just Do It!

What if one has nothing to say?
I went to confession after 20 years of Communal Confession and touched on the biggies that I could remember. Now I would like to go more often but can’t come up with anything to say.
I am not perfect by any means but I’m not sure.

Don’t you think 2-3 times a week is a bit scrupulous?

Here’s a link to another site which offers a great Examination of Conscience. It includes mortal sins and venial sins. Hope it helps!

Weekly, due to reoccurring mortal sins.

Oddly, I was once forbidden from the Sacrament because I had received it the evening before from the same priest. My sins were only venial, but it still upset me. I would go daily if I could. I guess my priest is only trying to prevent scrupulosity.

I go to confession weekly. Even if we have only venial sins to confess, we still receive grace from the sacrament. I understand several of our saints went to confession daily. With that example, surely a reprobate like me can drag myself to confession once a week. :yup:
