How should we choose Lenten sacrifices?

Is it okay that my Lenten sacrifices, although difficult and done prayerfully, leave me healthier and maybe even thinner at Easter or am I being self-serving? Suppose I give up some junky food and drink habits while adding some walking/prayer time. Good choices or does the benefit to myself negate the sacrifice?
