How would RCC's 'controversial' doctrines compare with the Eastern Church?

Surely if doctrines like the Perpetual Virginity of our Blessed Mother, or the Immaculate Conception are in line with the Eastern Churches there would be less ‘controversy’ among the Protestants.

Both of these are in line with the Eastern Churches. The problem with Immaculate Conception has to do with the way we define Original sin. The Eastern Churches do believe that Mary was sinnless, they also believe that she was ever-virgin.
