I ask for recommendation of books

Hello! Sorry for any english error, if I had written something wrong.
I would like recommendation of books for these 3 topics:

  1. How to pray, specially for beginners, showing the main difficulties in praying and how to solve them, how to start to pray and how to develop a praying life.
  2. How to struggle scruples.
  3. How to love Jesus, specially for those who see our Lord as a Judge only.

I would like that these books be a bit old, previous to 1900s, written by a saint, like Saint Alphonsus Liguori.

The two greatest saints who have written on the life of prayer - the interior life - are St. John of the Cross and St. Teresa of Avila (IMHO). The briefest while still comprehensive presentation of this spirituality is The Three Ways of the Spiritual Life, by Fr. R. Garrigou-Lagrange, O.P. - this is on-line here:
