I need a miracle to heal my paralysis and spinal cord

I’ve been paralyzed for 25 years. Getting tired of this and would like to move on with my life. Please pray for a miracle for me. I’m sure God can do it if we ask hard enough!

Matthew 9:2-8
Then behold, they brought to Him a paralytic lying on a bed. When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, “Son, be of good cheer; your sins are forgiven you.” And at once some of the scribes said within themselves, “This Man blasphemes!” But Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, “Why do you think evil in your hearts? For which is easier, to say, "Your sins are forgiven you,” or to say, “Arise and walk”? But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins"—then He said to the paralytic, “Arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.” And he arose and departed to his house. Now when the multitudes saw it, they marveled and glorified God, who had given such power to men.

Hi friend,

No question that God ‘can’ do anything. He’s all powerful. Feel free to pray for this, for sure.

That said… Also consider this. Christ tells us in advance that following him means carrying our unique crosses. And sometimes the gift God gives us is the ability to bear our sufferings, not the removal of our sufferings. Many great saints suffered illnesses or darknesses that were not lifted from them, and they found in those sufferings that they were united more closely to the heart of Christ, who through his own suffering redeemed suffering. Also, it’s good to remember that the efficacy of prayer isn’t based on ‘asking hard enough’; prayers aren’t magic spells that are guaranteed our desired result if we just follow the right formula.

If God wills to bring a greater good through allowing a suffering, He may allow the suffering to continue (just as He allowed Christ to be crucified). It’s not wrong to ask God, in prayer, to heal us of something (that’s a perfectly healthy and well-ordered request to make! We are indeed meant to recognize the goodness and beauty of health) – but we have to be ready to accept any answer, including “No” or “Not now”. Remember, in the garden of Gethsemane Jesus asked the Father that “this cup” be taken from him if it could be… but in the end accepted (and set the example for us in accepting) that the cup might not be taken from him:

Matthew 26:39 – And going a little farther, he threw himself on the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me; yet not what I want but what you want.”

Similarly, St. Paul talks about having a persistent “thorn in his flesh” (though we don’t know what it was) that God did not lift from him, no matter how he prayed. And God made clear to him that this was actually for greater glory, in the end. 2 Corinthians 12:6-10, culminating in:

Three times I appealed to the Lord about this, that it would leave me, but he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness.” So, I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me. Therefore I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities for the sake of Christ; for whenever I am weak, then I am strong.

On a more human level:

After 25 years, may I ask what you mean that you’re only just now “getting tired of this and would like to move on with [your] life”? How old are you? Forgive my ignorance, but I would have imagined that with most medical conditions, especially something as intense as paralysis, the “getting tired of this” phase would come MUCH sooner than 25 years in (like, 1 day to 2 months maybe?) and by 25 years in, a person would have ultimately come to terms with the fact that the condition is part of one’s life, and would have already “moved on” to living life from amidst that condition. (E.g. Stephen Hawking.) Has something about your condition changed recently, that you previously thought you had an un-paralyzed life to plan for, and you only just found out you can’t “move on” to that, and need to move on while still paralyzed?

If your question is sincere, I’d suggest talking to your priest (and medical staff) about your feelings, and about getting resources to “move on with your life” while still experiencing your condition of paralysis. Since you can clearly type and use a computer (and it sounds like you have a can-do attitude!) I imagine there are all sorts of opportunities for you to live a fruitful life with the technological ‘miracles’ God has indeed placed in the world during your time of life. At the very least you have opportunities for learning and study (and even playing games with strangers halfway around the world) that were unimaginable by the greatest minds even a few generations ago.

Again, yes, perhaps healing (through miraculous or medical means) is in your future in this life. But we know from the example of Christ himself that sometimes we are meant to keep bearing a cross all the way unto death, and we need to be prepared for that possibility with peace and hope, not presumption (that we’ll get the ‘escape’ we ask for) or despair (if/when we don’t get the ‘escape’ we presumed upon). Peace and hope together, in whatever our present circumstance is, seems spiritually healthy for us.

Anyhow, God bless you friend

St. Thérèse of Lisieux Prayer for Healing

Dear St. Thérèse,
You are a prodigy of miracles, the greatest saint
of modern times, and a doctor of the Church.
Beloved Little Flower, you gasped for every breath
as tuberculosis choked your young life.

Before your death, you promised: “ When I die, I will
send down a shower of roses from the heavens.
I will spend my heaven by doing good on earth.

In your understanding, please shower miraculous
roses on @Mikey007, who is paralyzed.

Please pray that God will grant him: the gift of healing;
comfort, peace, and patience in suffering; the fullness
of life here on earth; and a home in eternal glory.
In Jesus’ name, amen.

For your healing

Hail Mary,
Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit
of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

Prayer for a Miracle

God of all creation, you who spoke a simple command and brought forth light from
the darkness, I ask you now to send forth your miracle-working power to heal (Mikey007). You cleansed the lepers, opened the eyes of the blind and by
speaking a simple command, you empowered the crippled to rise up and walk.
You sent forth your life-giving power to all those in need, including those you raised from
the dead. I ask you to send forth your healing power into Mikey007’s body and give him the strength to fight his illness. I ask this through my Lord, Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen

I pray that the Lord heals your body and that He blesses you for your patience. Amen.

Dear Lord, bring your mercy to dear Mikey … and heal his body and soul.

O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fountain of Mercy for us, I trust in You!

Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, Amen.

Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your Dearly Beloved Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.

For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world. x10

Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thine intercession was left unaided.

Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me.

Amen.
