I really need your prayers...

I feel somewhat depressed… About my family and my living situation. I’m 37 and the only catholic on my mother’s side if the family… And my own mothes does not respect me or treat me with dignity…I’m disabled and Living with her and she drinks every day… I live on social security… But I feel like I need a change of scenery in my life…I also am struggling with lust/porn and gluttony…

Jason

Jason, I can understand why you’d be depressed. Your situation sounds far from ideal, even though you probably love your mother very much. You have a problem and she has a problem.

Can you get to a priest to talk to him and go to confession? Can you get to Mass on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation, even if your mother disagrees? You might also consider living somewhere else since you say you feel like you need a change of scenery. Oh, and a very important thing I left out, the Eucharist: it would be good for you to go to Mass after confession and receive the Eucharist. It is very empowering.

Problems with lust and porn seem to have become much worse since people are able to access it on the Internet. Let me make a point, and not at the expense of your disability, OK? I’m just going to make a comparison here. You are disabled and depressed, you wish you could do something about it, you need mostly to be treated with dignity. Now look at the objects of your lust and think, really allow yourself to think, even if it’s after that high you get while watching porn (I know – I used to do it, but stopped and then returned to the Church in 2000). Those people you’re watching have their own disability. You and others view them for personal pleasure when in fact they’re human beings worthy of respect. They, too, are not afforded the dignity they deserve. By watching them, you are contributing to their objectification. So stop, please, and go to confession. And pray for those men and women who get trapped in the porn industry. They need your prayers. Now instead of watching them “perform”, I pray for them.

About the gluttony, at first try to eat until you feel satisfied and then cut down little by little. And while you try to tackle these problems, pray every day, and pray to God that He show you the way. Ask God that His Will be done in your life. Both of these appeals to God have worked wonders in my life and I thank Him for my complete conversion.

Above all, you might feel alone and forgotten, but you’re not. There are a lot of us who pray for persons like you every day, and a lot of others who feel alone and forgotten.

Have faith. With God’s help, you can make a difference in your own life and perhaps even bring your mother and other loved ones to Him who suffered and died to pave the way to our ultimate destination: Heaven.

Let us know how things go. God bless you and your mother.

Praying for your intentions.

I’ll pray for you at mass this morning. May the Lord guide and bless you.

Is there any chance you can get involved in out of home activity ?
There could be an Astronomy club that has no expenses to you ?
Astronomy is really amazing , there is no physical ability needed, just your time & interest,
Or perhaps some other interest to get you away where you can be your own person,
Things become so much more complex in the home environment simply because you are all completely focused on only one another,

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

Jason, I’m not sure what your disability is, but there is a great deal of help out there for people to live independently with a disability. Is this a possibility? If not, there is also the possibility that the local disability network may be able to work with you on different living arrangements. It’s difficult to be an adult and live alone with a parent. If you have to remain with your mom, there is help out there to help you cope (maybe Catholic Social Services). You’re in a difficult situation, but not impossible. There is hope, one day, one step at a time, you can work this out. We are here to support you along the way. Keep us posted and know that you are in my prayers.

I will pray for you and your intentions.

Memorare

REMEMBER, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I fly to thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother; to thee do I come; before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.

and ever shall be,
world without end.
Amen.

O My Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell and lead all souls to Heaven, especially those who are in most need of Thy mercy. Amen.

Saint Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.

by the Divine Power of God -
thrust into hell satan and all the evil spirits,
who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls.

Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless,
and the treasury of compassion inexhaustible,
look kindly upon us and increase Your mercy in us,

nor become despondent, but with great confidence,
submit ourselves to Your Holy Will,
which is love and mercy itself. Amen.

[INDENT]A Prayer for Purity

Lord, inflame our hearts and our inmost beings with the fire of Your Holy Spirit, that we may serve You with chaste bodies and pure minds. Through Christ our Lord. Amen

A Prayer Against Gluttony

O Lord Jesus Christ, Mirror of abstinence, who, to teach us the virtue of abstinence, didst fast forty days and forty nights, grant that, serving Thee and not our own appetites, we may live soberly and piously with contentment, without greediness, gluttony, or drunkenness, that Thy will being our meat and drink, we may hunger and thirst after justice, and finally obtain from Thee that food which endureth unto life eternal. Amen.

Prayer of St. Dymphna

Lord, our God, you graciously chose St. Dymphna as patroness of those afflicted with mental, emotional, and nervous disorders. She is thus an inspiration and a symbol of charity to the thousands who ask her intercession.

Please grant, Lord, through the prayers of this pure youthful martyr, relief and consolation to all suffering such trials, and especially for Jason.

We beg you, Lord, to hear the prayers of St. Dymphna on our behalf. Grant Jason we pray patience in his sufferings and resignation to your divine will.

Please fill him with hope, and grant him the relief and cure he so desires.
We ask this through Christ our Lord who suffered agony in the garden. Amen.

A Prayer Against Depression

O Christ Jesus
When all is darkness
And we feel our weakness and helplessness,
Give us the sense of Your Presence,
Your Love and Your Strength.
Help us to have perfect trust
In Your protecting love
And strengthening power,
So that nothing may frighten or worry us,
For, living close to You,
We shall see Your Hand,
Your Purpose, Your Will through all things.

THIS

It works wonders. Pray even if you dont feel very sincere. Thats normal. but pray anyway, and every day you will get closer to being very sincere. God listens. Just dont give up. and DO ask that His will be done, and to give you the graces you need to do His will, and not your own.

God bless you, and may Our Mother pray for you.

Am on SSDI also and looking into the available options.

Praying for you very hard!
