Adults, teens and children.. wearing this symbol.. the so-called "Peace Sign".
.. and I just have to wonder why it is that people do not seem to know the origins of this symbol.
Parents, especially.. before you allow your precious children to wear items of clothing or jewelry, with this symbol.. please Google it, and do your research!
The origins of this symbol are not good. :( I just wanted to put this out there. It's up to you, parents.. to research this thing. Because it doesn't stand for "Peace".
Googling it turned up nothing of substance...
Ask any person today - anywhere - what that symbol stands for and I'm sure you will get the same answer. It means Peace
IF - and I do mean IF - it, or something similar, had some other meaning in the past it has long since vanished.
Likewise - if some group is trying to co-opt it for some purpose...they will have a difficult time of it as the symbol is still widely understood as meaning "peace" and my quick google search did not turn up any "new" uses.
Of course words and symbols CAN change their meaning over time...Not so long ago the word "gay" meant happy and carefree.
Now - having done as you asked and googling the matter - and finding nothing to give me concern, if you have anything specific to offer I suggest you do so...otherwise it seems to be a tempest in a teapot...
