If God makes a New Heaven and Earth, why make the originals?

If God makes a New Heaven and a New Earth, why would he bother making the originals?

If Heaven and Earth were made perfect (which they probably were since God is perfect in every way and cannot make mistakes), why would there be a need to improve on perfection?

Because humankind fell into original sin; thus all creation now “groans” until the time it is remade.

As the story goes, we broke them.

All of God’s creation was pronounced good, but sin has also affected the earth. It is breaking down as are we, all because of sin. Think of the once beautiful and perfect Garden of Eden - because of sin man had to work by the sweat of his brow to maintain, to clear weeds.
