If you are a Catholic married outside the Church without a dispensation; yes, you are objectively in a state of sin. You need to bring your marriage into the Church. See your pastor about this.

Thank you for sharing your time to answer. They have plans though to do this by January 2019 so family members can attend the wedding, they think that its justifiable and i don’t know the best way how to explain to them.

Their pastor may be requiring some marriage preparation. The Church does not marry people on short notice. Speak to your pastor about this. I would at least be happy that the marriage is in the works.

If one or both are baptized Catholic, there is a likelihood they know this. and if they know this, your telling them is likely to bring about results you likely would not choose.

Unless you are the parent of one of them, the best advice is to keep your nose out of it, as your comments are very likely to be unwanted.

If they continue on this path and you are faced with the question of whether or not to attend the wedding, you need to discuss that with your pastor, not the internet.
