INDIA - For the second year in a row, India is on a religious freedom ‘watch list’ [AN]

The annual report of the US Commission for International Religious Freedom focuses again on religious persecution in India. The secretary general of the Bishops’ Conference tells AsiaNews that the problem is the link between politics and fundamentalism.


This is interesting because Hinduism, the religion of 85% of the Indian population, is a most tolerant faith. In fact I very recently read conservative Catholic Peter Kreeft write that just as Islam is difficult to dialogue with because it tends to be rather intolerant, Hinduism is difficult to dialogue with because it is “too tolerant.”
