Indonesia passes anti-porn bill

We could learn a thing or two from the muslims… :

Indonesia’s parliament has passed an anti-pornography law despite furious opposition to it.

Islamic parties said the law was needed to protect women and children against exploitation and to curb increasing immorality in Indonesian society.

The law would ban images, gestures or talk deemed to be pornographic.

If you love censorship so much, move to North Korea, I am sure you will love it there

So a bill that protects women from being viewed simply as pieces of meat is cencorship? In that case, don’t complain when someone insults you “group”, or you’re a fascist. Those damn anti slavery unionists…

Oh, so you’re in favor of the exploitation of women and the distribution of pornography which is condemned by the Church?

Oh, so you’re in favor of the exploitation of women?

Gimme a break! if a woman is forced to do porn, thats slavery, if they do it of their own free will, it might not be the right choice but its not a government crime!

Certainly it’s worst for a woman to be forced, but either way, it universally degrades women and makes them pleasure objects to be used at the disposal of men-- which is horrible.

Oh, so then can we apply that formula to murder or, specifically, abortion?

“It might not be the right choice but it’s not a government crime!”

Could we then apply this formula to murder, abortion?

If not, what distinguishes them? They are both evil acts.

Does anyone notice the scary part there?

The law would ban images, gestures or talk deemed to be pornographic.

That can be anything soon women could be banned from public. there rights slowly eroded away till you have honour killings all around.

Censorship is never a good thing. It will objectify the same thing it is trying to stop.

Did you just compare nude pictures to murdering an innocent person?! How insane are you?! And you have the right to defend innocent life but you have no right to interfere in non-violent acts of individuals

Uh-- what are you smoking? I compared pornography with murder not in degree, but in what they are-- immoral.

Is it ok to allow some immoral acts and not others? If not, why? Just because some are less immoral? So we let some little sins get by, but not big ones like murder?

Also, stealing some item from a store is a crime, no?

But stealing is less sinful than degrading women and desecrating the marriage act, and yet we punish that.

How insane are you?!

Whatever you’re smoking, please put the pipe down, and take a deep breath of fresh air.

And you have the right to defend innocent life but you have no right to interfere in non-violent acts of individuals

Spiritual violence is more important than physical violence.

Plus, having porn legal basically sends a message that is ok. It’s not ok. I was appalled when a young child I saw once picked up a dirty magazine at the gas station and was asking his mom about it. And those covers don’t even cover the whole nudity. :frowning:

Getting drunk can also wrong, but it’s legal for a person to be drunk if they want, same thing with hurting your body from smoking. You have the right to believe something is wrong and tell that to people, but you have no natural right to force people to not do something if it doesnt cause violence to another person or to someones private property. Using the law to control peoples life is communism, plain and simple. It’s no irony that communism has the strictest anti-porn laws, and also are anti-christian.

Isn’t human law supposed to be inline with Eternal Law as much as possible? Nothing-- Nothing at all-- good comes out of pornography. Why would you want it? Wasn’t it illegal before the 1950’s in America? They were not Communist. What do you think Christ would say? I cannot hear Him saying, “Yes, porn should be legal.”

C’mon!

The Catechism of the Catholic Church disagrees with you in paragraph 2354:

"Civil authorities should prevent the production and distribution of pornographic materials. "

So let pornography run rampid on TV? All swearing you want at work and on the radio?

Don’t I have the right to protect my family from this stuff?

Don’t I have the right to walk into a mall and not hear profanity ridden music playing the mall speakers.

How do you define Pornography? Naked? Seductive? All these thing are subjetive. There is no cut and dry method. You want your wife walking around in a burka?

This is a muslim society what happens when they start banning your religion because it a corrupting influence. “Christianity will damage our children it is to protect them from this offensive evil false church” Allah be praised after all.

You want to live under the Talban go right ahead, I rather just teach my kids a respect for women and than it will mean nothing for them and guess what if enough people do this there will be no porn.

Pol,
You said, “Censorship is never a good thing. It will objectify the same thing it is trying to stop.”

If “Censorship is never a good thing” then that allows everything to be unsensored. Porno is not just seeing naked bodies. If you think the definition of porno is subjective, then you are living in a different world.

I would like you to really think about the statement you made. If you really stand by it, I don’t think I can change your mind.

The Indonisia article you are talking about is not the subject I am talking about. I am talking about the statement you made above.

Please think about a world where there is no censorship. Is that the place you want the future families to live. Do you want swearing and pornography broadcasted at a kid’s tee ball games?

So don’t say censorship is NEVER a good thing.

I’m done.

What is interesting is that South Asia, Indonesia, and north of Australia are becoming heavily infiltrated by Islam, radical Islam.

Just in the last few days, dignitaries from the Solomon Islands went to sign a bilateral agreement with Iran.
solomontimes.com/news.aspx?nwID=2941

This act is an outcropping of the Muslim influence proliferating in the past twenty years. Unfortunately, though, this cozy-toe is a hidden suicide for the Solomon Islands.

The resumption of gold mining at the expense of the island’s coral reefs just for Iran’s manipulating greed and short-term sharing of economic betterment is like slicing their own legs off.

Why? Scientists have accelerated the world’s ice melt from within the next 100 years, instead, to within the next 50 years! For the Solomon Islands, (because of the nature of their coastal plain) this translates as: a 5 mm rise of sea level = a 5 or more meter loss of land! It would be kind of nice to have the reefs regenerating something above sea level so that they won’t have to swim forever. And God help them should there be a repeat earthquake like what happened this last year!

There are only 500,000 people in this country, most of which are Melanesian, a culture that (as of late) just sucks up Islam’s “eye for an eye” preaching. While their minds are being further brainwashed, their country will be ransacked to the hilt, thus destroyed, and beset with even more social unrest, of which has been already happening this whole past decade.

The Solomons, affiliating themselves to radical, Muslim Iran, can be considered now a lost cause, a paradise of the past. And it is of their own free choice.

Should the sane world worry about them? Worry is fruitless. The sane world should pray for their souls.

The CCC defines it and says it should be outlawed:

**2354 ***Pornography *consists in removing real or simulated sexual acts from the intimacy of the partners, in order to display them deliberately to third parties. It offends against chastity because it perverts the conjugal act, the intimate giving of spouses to each other. It does grave injury to the dignity of its participants (actors, vendors, the public), since each one becomes an object of base pleasure and illicit profit for others. It immerses all who are involved in the illusion of a fantasy world. It is a grave offense. Civil authorities should prevent the production and distribution of pornographic materials.

It is never a good thing and you can not convince me of that. Do you know what is a good thing Capitalisim and education. You do both and it will not be at you kids tee ball game.
