Insurance and Religious

Do religious, like priests, monks, nuns, or anyone else who is financially dependent on the Church receive insurance coverage? Including health, auto, life, etc.

Yes. My daughter joined a community as a nun this past year. We (her parents) are required to pay her health insurance for the first year (as a postulant). After that the community takes up the coverage.

Yes. Some Orders even cover the person during their time as a candidate/postulant, at least for health. Not sure about life or auto.

That’s good. I assumed they did, but I wasn’t certain. Thanks for answering.

And 64bob, I wish your daughter all the best in her vocation.
