Is it a sin to congratulate a gay couple?

What is the morality of saying something congratulatory to a same sex couple who has had a wedding and gotten “married”? For example, if a friend of yours who you haven’t seen in years but still keep in touch with via social media got married to someone of the same sex and put pictures of their wedding on Facebook, and you commented “Love and prayers to you” would that be a sin? Thank you.

Love and prayers are certainly not sinful. The world needs more of both. Congratulating or encouraging someone to sinful behavior can be.
