Is it appropriate or even permisable to sell goods outside the church door?

Wouldn’t it be considered innappropriate to be selling items right outside the Church doors, or on church preperty, more sprecifically in the plaza outside the doors. At our parish we have booths set up for fundraising, Doesn’t this go against what ha happened in the 2nd Chapter ofthe Gospel of john were in verse 16 he scolds the money changers and says “stop making a market out of my fathers house”??? Some advice please

Dearn Sean,

Not at all. If the goods are being sold in the sanctuary or in some part of the church, yes. But selling goods outside is appropriate so long as such business if for the benefit of the Church. Commercial business would conflict with the Church’s non-profit standing.
