Is it OK to have a floor rug in the church that has crosses drawn on it?

Our church recently bought a very expensive floor rug that has crosses on it. That means everybody that is entering the church is stepping on the crosses. We spoke to the priest and complained about it, but he did not seem to have a problem with idea. Is it OK to step on a rug that has crosses on it?

Of course, it’s okay. Many great churches in Rome and the Vatican have crosses on their marble floors. They are not crucifixes, but crosses that are not depictions, but symbols.
