Is it okay to give the Pope nicknames?

In an informal setting and assuming no disrespect is intended, is it okay to use nicknames for the Pope (i.e., “German Shepherd”)?

Sure. While I would not recommend using such nicknames in a formal setting (e.g., papal audience, letter to the Pope), there is nothing wrong with private nicknames that demonstrate affection for one’s spiritual father.
