Is the Rapture biblical or just poor theology and tv?

There’s lots of TV time devoted to Apocalyptic like events, from zombie hordes to vampire invasions. Not that the bible suggests these particular events, but, does Revelation really suggest a rapture? I’ve heard the rapture was not even a theological question until the late 19th century. I found this interesting and would love to shed light on this topic.
