Is there a difference between liberal and conservative Catholics?

I thought being Catholic meant you believed in the Church’s teachings. Why are there different types of Catholics? I have heard things like “Oh, my church is a liberal Catholic church.” I feel like I will be judged within a community of fellow believers! Please help!

“Liberal” and “conservative” primarily are political designations and therefore are inappropriate for identifying Catholics. There are only Catholics, without qualification, who either follow what the Church teaches or do not.
