Can anyone please help me find a patron saint of sorrow, not mental illness?
Actually, there’s an interesting distinction to be made between sorrow and sadness. The Blessed Virgin Mary is sometimes called Our Sorrowful Mother or Our Mother of Sorrows, but she is also perfectly happy in heaven. Primarily, she is called that because of her sorrow over the passion and death of her Son, but her title is also appropriate because any sorrow she now expresses is for others and for their sins, but not for herself. In any event, you may wish to seek the intercession of the Blessed Virgin under one of these titles or of St. Gabriel of Our Lady of Sorrows.
