Japan's Last WWII Straggler Dies at 91

This is a very strange and sad story.

Any comments?

Hiroo Onoda is one of my personal heroes. I read his book No Surrender: My Thirty-Year War and it was inspiring in his commitment to his cause. It’s a good read.

I remember when he was repatriated. I was living in Japan at the time. It took a lot of courage and stamina to continue by himself for 30 years, and it sounds like he did all right after he came home. I’ll have to look for his book.

May he rest in peace.
